The network for a sustainable and regional energy transition
The sustainable development of renewable energy sources and the implementation of energy efficiency measures were and are mainly organised locally, in a decentralized manner through grass roots initiatives. This energy transition, however, is more of a marathon than a sprint: it requires both stamina and a strong network.Supporting the transformation of the energy system towards an energy supply based on 100% regionally sourced, renewable energy, Region-N strives to better connect all local and regional players. The project fosters the reestablishment of the former 100% RES Communities network in Germany and works to ensure its funding independent of public sources.
Region-N is closely linked to the research project Transform-R, which makes an important contribution to the design of a network for regional transformation.
Project funding period: June 2018 – May 2020
