Activities

Active for the global climate

In addition to offering a variety of opportunities for direct exchange, we undertake a wide variety of activities with and for member cities and towns to support on the ground climate action.

POLICY AND ADVOCACY

The European Secretariat pushes for funding and decision making processes that better fit local needs in climate and development policy on both the EU and international levels.

WORKING GROUPS

Climate Alliance members have their say in these processes through the annual General Assembly, but are also invited to delve into the discussion throughout the year via Climate Alliance working groups. Working groups are formed on an as needed basis and deal with topics of particular interest to members.

TOOLS AND METHODS

Climate Alliance elaborates practical tools and methods to support climate action. These tools are used by local authorities across Europe, helping them both to plan climate strategies and monitor progress.

COVENANT OF MAYORS

Climate Alliance is one of the eight networks running the official office of the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, an incredibly successful EU initiative that brings together thousands of local and regional authorities committed to meeting climate and energy goals on their territories.

CAMPAIGNS AND AWARDS

Climate Alliance is well-known for its campaigns and awards, which are conceived as tools to help municipalities engage their local populations in climate action. Whether it be a focus on sustainable mobility or changing consumption patterns, municipalities can take advantage of campaign infrastructure and materials to get their residents involved.

PROJECTS

Just like the members themselves and the National Coordination Offices, the Climate Alliance Secretariat is very active in project work on a variety of climate-related topics. The results of these projects not only benefit the climate strategies of those involved but also serve as a rich resource for our members seeking guidance and inspiration.
