Climate partnerships
Working together for more climate action
We build bridges for greater collaboration on climate.
Exchanging ideas and learning from one another – this has been at the heart of our alliance for over 35 years. Partnerships on climate action, across municipal boundaries and even across national borders, are one way of putting it all into practice. Climate partnerships enable committed local actors to network, find synergies, share the experiences of their colleagues and inspire each other. Such partnerships are thus an important boost to successful municipal climate protection and adaptation.
It all comes down to cooperation
Through its more than 35-year-long cooperation with indigenous partners from Amazonia, Climate Alliance demonstrates how cross-border cooperation can work. This partnership raises awareness of the realities of life on both sides, promotes mutual understanding and encourages cooperation towards common goals. Municipalities can also enter into climate partnerships with indigenous peoples, thus taking global partnerships to the local level. The successful examples of Climate Alliance members show how such collarboration can look in practice.
Partnerships between regions and municipalities within Europe, too, are becoming increasingly important. More and more EU initiatives are promoting exchange and mutual learning, whether through city partnerships, peer-to-peer formats or twinning programmes. Climate Alliance plays a key role in shaping many of these projects, offering its members the opportunity to benefit directly from climate partnerships. The focus: to promote climate action at the local level for a sustainable Europe. Explore our offers!
