Where dialogue becomes global action

The 2026 UN Climate Change Conference (COP31) will take place from 9 to 20 November 2026 in Antalya, Turkey, under the joint COP31 presidency of COP31 with Australia. The COP is the world’s most important climate summit, bringing together representatives from politics, science, business and civil society. The conference serves as a central platform for negotiations and for promoting joint action to tackle the climate crisis.

 

Climate Alliance will be taking part again this year to both amplify the voices of local authorities across Europe and to support its indigenous partners from the Amazon region. The Climate Alliance delegation will organise side events on site and run the Climate Alliance stand during the first week of the conference.

During the first week of COP31, we will be showcasing our network and the services we offer to our members and local authorities across Europe, as well as our collaboration with our indigenous partners, at our stand. The stand is being organised jointly by Climate Alliance Europe, Climate Alliance Austria and Climate Alliance Italy.

From Global Indicators to Local Resilience: Making adaptation work for most vulnerable communities

The adoption of the Belém Adaptation Indicators marked an important step towards measuring global adaptation progress. This event demonstrates how indicators can be strengthened through child-sensitive data broken down by social group. Local authorities and civil society organisations will also report on adaptation planning at local level and highlight how collaboration can strengthen local capacities. This event is organised jointly by Climate Alliance, ICLEI and Save the Children.

Just Transition: Empowering local Governments and communities

How can the Just Transition Mechanism turn global Ambition into fair and inclusive local Action? Municipalities and community actors share practical approaches and a communication guide to address inequalities, engage residents and build Lasting support for Climate action. This event is organised jointly by Climate Alliance Europe, Climate Alliance Luxembourg, Climate Alliance Italy and the Basque Centre for Climate Change.

Transitioning away from fossil fuels: Indigenous peoples Shaping a just Transition

12 November, 15:00 – 16:30 | Side Event Room Brown

Indigenous Peoples and their territories are key to transitioning away from fossil fuels. This event explores how the Santa Marta Process can strengthen participation, uphold indigenous Rights and territories, and ensure diveres Knowledge Systems, experiences and Solutions Shaping the Transition. This event is organised in collaboration with Climate Alliance Austria, Earthworks, IPRO and INFOE.
