(Un-)pave the way: How municipalities can use the momentum of public campaigns for unsealing surfaces
3 September, 11:00 – 12:00, online (EN)
Campaigns such as “Abpflastern” (in Germany) and “Tegelwippen” (in Netherlands) are making climate adaptation more accessible to a broader public, focusing on how spaces can be unsealed or unpaved by a variety of stakeholders. Many municipalities are also taking the lead and already formulating strategies or unsealing paved areas. This session will focus the exchange of experiences and ideas that work in practice.

Developing sustainable local heating and cooling plans: A practical guide for municipalities
8 September, 11:00 – 12:00, online (EN)
Sustainable heating and cooling requires strategic planning and coordinated action. This webinar will explore the first steps in developing sustainable local heating and cooling plans, highlighting experiences from municipalities in Southern Europe. Participants will learn about key challenges, discuss ways to overcome them and learn about practical guidance on planning, implementing and monitoring such strategies as provided in the new Plan4COLD Handbook.
Communication: Responses to the multiple crisis of our time
10 September, 11:00 – 12:30, online (EN)
The closing of the Strait of Hormus is the latest reminder of Europe’s dependency on fossil resources. Such conflicts exacerbate existing crises and creates new ones. This seminar will explore how municipalities can respond, boost resilience and show ways out of these crises – by strengthening democracy, promoting climate action and motivating people to decrease their fossil fuel dependencies.

Central Eastern European Municipal Summit
15 September, 11:00 – 12:30 Uhr, online (EN)
This event brings together cities and regions from Central and Eastern European (CEE) as well as from the Baltics navigating the tension between urgent climate emergencies and long-term sustainability. Join your peers and learn about regional climate risks, see concrete examples of high-impact measures, gain valuable connections and delve into actionable strategies to turn short-term crisis response into long-term resilience. This summit will help foster a strong, supportive framework towards climate neutrality across CEE and the Baltics.
Municipal monitoring in practice
17 September, 11:00 – 12:00, online (DE)
Even before major international or national greenhouse gas agreements were adopted, Climate Alliance municipalities had made a voluntary commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This session will give insights into the online tools that ultimately emerged from this commitment – the Climate Protection Planner and the Action Planner. Find out more about these two tools for greenhouse gas inventories and evaluating local climate measures learn. This session will be held in German.

From local campaigns to transferable impact
22 September, 11:00 – 12:15, online (EN)
Join this workshop to discover ways municipalities can improve energy-savings communication, engage residents and adapt successful campaign ideas to local needs. This session will provide concrete examples, foster peer exchange and and explore ready-to-use tools you can apply in their own work. Get practical guidance on how to turn local campaigns into ideas that can be adapted elsewhere and learn about the blueprints and cost-benefit tool – courtesy of the SaveEnergyTogether project!
Renewable energy in indigenous territories: Challenges, strategies and examples from Amazonia
24 September, 15:00 – 16:00, online (EN | ES)
Energy demand is rising, even in remote indigenous communities where access to energy remains a major challenge. At the same time, fossil fuel and raw material extraction is impacting the climate, ecosystems and the livelihoods of indigenous peoples. This session will explore the links between resource extraction, climate action and the protection of indigenous territories in Amazonia, providing a space for exchange between European local authorities and representatives of indigenous communities.
