Climate Protection Planner

Your tool for municipal emissions monitoring

With the Climate Protection Planner, local authorities can visualise their municipal emissions and plan their next steps.

Municipalities and districts alike can use the Climate Protection Planner to create energy and greenhouse gas balances based on a systematic and standardised methodology. Thanks to integrated benchmarking, the tool also shows local authorities where they stand in comparison to other cities and towns and contributes to sustainability reporting with municipal monitoring results. The tool is currently used by local authorities throughout Germany and East Belgium. Since 2024, the Climate Protection Planner has also been in use in Austria as part of the KlimaBilanz initiative.

Climate Alliance supports users

  • with individual skills development via instruction in small groups
  • with comprehensive training programmes
  • in preparing or updating municipal or district-wide balance sheets
  • with supplementary quality management
  • in transferring legacy data or old balance sheets from other systems (e.g. ECOSPEEDRegion, BICO2BW)

Making climate protection visible

With the Climate Protection Dashboard, municipalities can clearly display and communicate their balance sheet results, energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions using their own URL. The dashboard even displays municipality-specific climate stripes. The idea: to allow local governments to make the results of their climate protection work accessible to the public. A preview of the dashboard, available free of charge to all Climate Protection Planer users, can be accessed here.
