Local Energy Action Blueprints for municipalities

New resources to save energy available

Municipalities are at the heart of the energy transition – and having practical, ready-to-use solutions to engage citizens makes all the difference. The new Energy Action Blueprints by the SaveEnergyTogether Project Partnership are resources that bring together a growing collection of proven, easy-to-replicate procedures developed from real experiences in Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Lithuania and Portugal. They are designed to help you turn ideas into action. They capture what worked in practice, offering clear, step-by-step approaches that municipalities, energy agencies, and local organisations can adapt to their own context.

Each Blueprint includes the entire procedure at a glance, an implementation recipe, energy-saving topics & tips you can communicate, tips for planning & resources, rough time table, budget estimate, risks and impact measures. Whether you’re planning a campaign or engaging citizens to improve energy efficiency in your local context, these documents provide a solid starting point – helping your community become more energy-efficient and resilient. The first batch of Blueprints features:

  • School Workshops: A 45–90 minute interactive school workshop blueprint for one class + optional 1–2 week “Home Challenge” to transfer actions to households.
  • Sticker Nudges: An A4/A5 sticker sheet with short, removable reminder stickers for everyday energy-saving habits at home (plus a QR code to your local tips/support page).
  • Open House Day: A one-day event where households with energy-efficient homes open their doors for visits. Homeowners share renovation experiences, motivation, costs/benefits, and answer questions.
  • DIY Workshop: A hands-on DIY workshop on simple insulation. A local craftsman demonstrates the steps, and helps participants understand what they can do and what requires professionals.
  • Press Article Templates: A set of ready-to-use article templates on energy-saving topics for municipalities to publish in municipal papers, newsletters, websites, or partner channels.
