European Urban Resilience Forum 2026
17 – 19 June 2026
Guimarães (PT)
Exploring integrated approaches to climate resilience that move beyond adaptation
Since 2013, the European Urban Resilience Forum (EURESFO) has been a unique exchange platform for city representatives, experts and stakeholders from local and regional institutions to discuss strategies, initiatives and actions for adapting to climate change, managing disasters, and building urban resilience. The European Urban Resilience Forum is a European initiative driven by ICLEI Europe and the European Environment Agency, and co-organised with the City of Guimarães (Portugal), denominated European Green Capital for 2026.
EURESFO 2026 will continue with its characteristic informative, open, and interactive ambiance, upholding its ‘PowerPoint free’ format. Participants are enthusiastically invited to share their experiences and perspectives on an array of topics that delve into the challenges inherent in urban resilience planning and implementation.
EURESFO26 will be focused on these four thematic streams
- People at the centre: Just resilience, housing, democracy
- Strengthening the governance of resilience: unpacking regulation for local action and leveraging policy insights from the ground
- Managing climate extremes in a place-sensitive way: holistic and landscape approaches for rural and local resilience
- The tools we need: innovative financing mechanisms, AI and digital tools to enable resilience to compound risks
Climate Alliance will support the programme by, among other things, organising a session on the topic of climate-resilient, affordable housing.
