Save Energy Together Online Hub

Energy efficiency campaigns for simple energy saving

Welcome to the SaveEnergyTogether Online Hub!

We support municipalities and regions to promote behaviour change in households to save energy and thus reduce CO2 emissions to fight climate change. At the heart of the project are large-scale communication campaigns tailored to local contexts. These campaigns are supported by national online hubs, cost-benefit tools, and a robust monitoring framework. The interventions focus on everyday actions—such as adjusting heating habits, reducing hot water use, or switching to LED lighting—that are accessible to all and require little or no investment.

Outputs are easily replicable across municipalities, social housing programmes, regional energy agencies, and community education initiatives, delivering strong impact through low-cost behavioural interventions. Strong uptake interest demonstrates clear potential for large-scale rollout with only modest additional resources.

Expected Impacts

Our energy efficiency campaigns deliver real, measurable impact—equivalent to removing around 15,000 cars from the road for a year or planting over 1 million trees.

NEW IN: Local Energy Efficiency Action Toolkit for Municipalities

Energy Action Blueprints

Municipalities are at the heart of the energy transition—and having practical, ready-to-use solutions to engage citizens makes all the difference. These downloadable Energy Action Blueprints are resources that bring together a growing collection of proven, easy-to-replicate procedures developed from real experiences in our pilot regions. They are designed to help you turn ideas into action. They capture what worked in practice, offering clear, step-by-step approaches that municipalities, energy agencies, and local organizations can adapt to their own context. Whether you’re planning a campaign, engaging citizens, to  improve energy efficiency in your local context, these documents provide a solid starting point —helping your community become more energy-efficient and resilient. The collection will continue to grow, with new measures being added over time featuring also translated verions through national online hubs.

Hub Austria

The Energy Agency Tyrol supports municipalities in engaging residents and stakeholders to reduce energy use through both behavioural changes and practical everyday actions.

Hub Germany

German municipalities receive support by eza! – the regional energy agency in Allgäu through hosting on-site campaigns, DIY Workshops and city-walks, citizen lectures, and personalised consultations delivered by independent energy experts directly in the community.

Hub Lithuania

The Lithuanian Consumer Alliance engages with municipalities and their residents in practical energy-saving actions through local consulting groups, communication campaigns, and implementing simple, low-cost measures—particularly supporting energy-poor households with targeted “first aid” solutions for their homes.

Hub Portugal

ADENE supports Portuguese municipalities, by guiding the implementation of cost-effective energy efficiency measures, training local actors, and coordinating awareness-raising activities with citizens to tackle energy poverty.

Hub Slovenia

ZPS supports Slovenian municipalities by providing guidance, data, and collaboration tools to implement low-cost energy efficiency measures and promote citizen engagement via practical resources, energy price overviews, best practices, and workshops.

About us

Our campaign groups run communication campaigns to motivate citizens to save energy with simple activities. We work in Germany, Austria and Portugal at local and regional level, in Slovenia and Lithuania we run campaigns at over-regional and national level. We will also provide a cost-benefit tool for municipalities and other decision makers to help assess the potentials and costs of different energy saving measures. The tool offers support to select the most appropriate measures for their local context and to promote energy saving. Read our flyer
