12th Climate Star competition launched

Climate Star sign on stage

Submissions are now possible for the 12th Climate Star awards.

Climate Alliance members can apply with their climate action projects through 31 October for a chance to win one of 16 Climate Star awards. In 2026 for the first time ever, Climate Alliance municipalities and regions can also be nominated for the Climate Star. For this edition of the award, all applicants will also be considered for inclusion in Climate Alliance’s Climate Library of local climate solutions.

The Climate Star award puts local success stories in the spotlight. International juries in the seven Climate Alliance national coordination countries as well as at the Climate Alliance Europe’s headquarters will evaluate submissions with a view to the longevity of their impact, their ability to engage citizens, their power to inspire, the resulting media resonance and the creativity of their approach. Award winners will be informed early 2027 and honoured publicly during a festive gala at Lower Austria’s Luberegg Castle on 29 April 2027.

With the Climate Star Award, the network recognises the work of its members from across Europe – rewarding ambition while inspiring further action. By taking part, Climate Alliance towns, cities and regions have the chance showcase their local projects on the European stage. Climate Alliance has conferred the Climate Star Awards roughly every two years since 2002. The competition and the awards ceremony are organised jointly by Climate Alliance Lower Austria and Climate Alliance Europe with the support of the Province of Lower Austria.
