German-Turkish Climate Cooperation

Strengthening civil society for climate change action project

The project “German-Turkish Climate Cooperation: Strengthening Civil Society for Climate Change Action”, implemented as part of the Climate Diplomacy Action Programme of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), promotes a fair energy transition in Turkish regions undergoing structural change and strengthens German-Turkish cooperation on climate mitigation and adaptation to climate change. Specifically, the project team is assisting the YADA Foundation in developing a comprehensive communication strategy and supporting exchange between Turkish and German stakeholders.

The central components of the project are the transfer of technical knowledge, consulting and regular network meetings. Events with civil society organisations and relevant energy transition actors from Turkey and Germany provide a space for expertise and mutual exchange. This exchange will be deepened during a study trip to German regions undergoing structural change. Finally, the communication strategy will also be presented in German regions in order to feed back findings and provide further impetus.
