2026 National EU Covenant of Mayors Meeting

On 12 and 13 May, the Covenant of Mayors Office, in collaboration with the Regional Government of Galicia, is organising the 2026 National EU Covenant of Mayors meeting for Spain. The aim of the event is to provide information and reflect on the current state of the EU Covenant of Mayors. This year we will once again be joined by Bruno Mola, a representative of the European Commission, who will speak about the links between European policies and the EU Covenant of Mayors.

The Regional Government of Galicia, one of the most successful Territorial Coordinators of the EU Covenant of Mayors, with 287 municipalities participating, will be informing us about its regional strategy, presenting numerous examples of activities carried out by Galician municipalities.

During the event, three highly topical round-table discussions will be held, focusing on energy poverty, adaptation to climate change and flood prevention policies. In addition, a meeting is also scheduled between representatives of autonomous communities, provincial councils and other relevant bodies within the EU Covenant of Mayors, and Bruno Mola, a representative of the European Commission, along with technical representatives from the Ministry for Ecological Transition, to analyse the current status of the EU Covenant of Mayors in Spain.
