European Topic Centre on Climate Change Adaptation and LULUCF (ETC CA)

Telling the story of climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation actions in Europe

The European Topic Centre on Climate Change Adaptation and LULUCF (ETC CA) is a consortium of 16 European organisations with expertise in climate adaptation and land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF), led by the Italian foundation Centro Euro-Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici (CMCC). The ETC CA supports the European Environment Agency (EEA) in the implementation and further development of EU policy and legislation. The Topic Centre monitors the impacts of the climate crisis as well as climate adaptation and LULUCF. In addition, it contributes to harmonisation, quality assessment and the use of data and information. The ETC CA also supports the policy process around the EU Climate Change Adaptation Strategy in the framework of the EU Green Deal. In addition, the Competence Centre manages the European Climate Change Adaptation Platform, Climate ADAPT, and is responsible for its permanent updating and improvement.

Climate Alliance is part of the consortium, and co-leads the task on urban and local aspects of adaptation. In this role, Climate Alliance experts are leading the drafting of the EEA's 2024 Urban Adaptation Report. Moreover, we help organise the European Urban Resilience Forum, maintain and update the urban contents of Climate-ADAPT, and support the task Monitoring and evaluation of national adaptation strategies and plans, contributing to the elaboration of the EEA report on Advancing towards climate resilience in Europe - Status of national adaptation actions in 2021 and 2022.
