Job opportunity

Climate Alliance is seeking a motivated Project Manager (m/f/d) for two projects in the areas of energy poverty and sustainable finance for its Brussels Office.

For over 35 years, Climate Alliance member municipalities have been acting in partnership with indigenous rainforest peoples for the benefit of the global climate. With over 2,000 members spread across more than 25 countries, Climate Alliance is Europe’s largest city network dedicated to comprehensive and equitable climate action.

Our ideal candidate

You will work for an EU-funded project in the area of financing, providing hands-on expertise and simplified financial aid, as well as capacity building and peer-to-peer support to municipalities, to enable the development of sound investment packages and mobilise finance. You will lead the action on sustainability, replication, and exploitation of project results in Europe. The overall objective of your work is to maximise the impact of the activities and results, specifically to promote the exploitation of investment concepts and foster wide replication of best practices. In the second half of your role, you will be in charge of Climate Alliance’s tasks in a European-funded project that supports municipalities and intermediary organisations in identifying and addressing energy poverty among people with disabilities through research, training, mentoring, policy development, and local pilot actions in Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, and Spain. You have a strong motivation to enhance the capacities of local and regional policy actors in addressing energy poverty, with a focus on people with disabilities and the mentorship programme.

 

As part of the Climate Alliance Brussels office, you will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, including headquarters in Frankfurt. The position offers a strong leadership mandate, the opportunity to contribute to project acquisition, and the chance to further strengthen Climate Alliance’s role as a leading actor on climate action across Europe. You are impact-driven, able to work independently and collaboratively, and motivated to contribute to a dynamic, Brussels-based team committed to accelerating a socially just transition.

Your tasks

You act as contact person for Climate Alliance within the two project consortia and represent Climate Alliance at workshops, stakeholder meetings and policy events. You actively contribute to the dissemination of results, monitor project activities, collect data and prepare technical reports, deliverables and progress updates.

Sustainable Finance

  • Lead Climate Alliance activities on sustainability, replication and exploitation of project results (e.g. the development of an exploitation report)
  • Manage a small network of national partners and support them in the execution of project-related events

Energy Poverty

  • Support municipalities in developing and implementing local approaches to address energy poverty, with a particular focus on people with disabilities
  • Contribute to the delivery of mentoring, training and capacity-building activities for local and regional authorities
  • Support the organisation of workshops, webinars and peer-learning activities in collaboration with European project partners
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge exchange with municipalities, experts and stakeholder organisations across Europe
  • Assist with project monitoring, reporting and the preparation of technical deliverables

Requirements

  • Experience in managing or supporting EU-funded projects (e.g. LIFE is an advantage)
  • Experience in working with municipalities, local authorities or public administrations
  • Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Experience in organising workshops, training programmes and participatory processes
  • Excellent written and spoken English; additional European languages are considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating complex international partnerships and multi-stakeholder processes
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
  • Knowledge of, in particular, energy poverty and/or private finance, EU funding streams and similar facilities, as well as advisory services for municipalities, is a plus

Terms

Contract:

The contract will be made between the individual and Climate Alliance under the Belgian law. The corresponding assignment is based on a full-time position until 31 December 2027, starting as soon as possible.
