Climate Alliance supports policy brief urging for a truly just Social Climate Fund
A newly published policy brief emphasises the need for a truly just Social Climate Fund. It outlines a series of proposals for national managing authorities to prepare truly effective National Social Climate Plans. Drawing on concrete and applied examples from other major public funds (e.g., the Recovery Facility), and the NECP drafting process, the briefing provides:
- Advice on inclusive and meaningful public consultation processes
- Examples of effective structural solutions to tackle energy poverty and reduce dependency on fossil fuels (e.g., expanding green and social housing and promoting public transport)
- Recommendations for mobilising additional funds beyond the mandatory minimum 25% co-financing rate
Climate Alliance helped draft the strategy paper along with a coalition of social and environmental NGOs. The brief is now available online.
