Anti-NGO law in Peru threatens cooperation with indigenous organisations

In mid-March, the Peruvian parliament passed a new law that gives the government agency APCI the power to control, supervise and monitor the work of non-governmental organisations. Peruvian NGOs see this as a restriction of their work and a threat to their cooperation with foreign partners.

Climate Alliance also fears considerable difficulties for indigenous organisations in Peru and is therefore working with other committed organisations to mobilise all channels and exert influence on Peruvian legislation, for example through a joint letter to the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
