Amazon Summit V: Solutions from indigenous peoples for a living amazon

This summit aims at rethinking the current schemes of action of international cooperation to respond efficiently to the need to protect the Amazon and avoid the point of no return, through the construction of a joint Action Plan between indigenous peoples, governments and civil society. This event is an effort to:

  • evaluate the current conditions of cooperation and international decision-making spaces in order to establish a roadmap for building more efficient mechanisms through virtual and face-to-face joint work spaces.
  • establish a joint action strategy through the organization of the Amazon Summit V.
  • consolidate the leadership of indigenous peoples to enable advocacy in the transition of global public policies, through direct implementation planningin territories with indigenous peoples.

Invited by its partner organisation COICA – the Coordinating Committee of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin – Climate Alliance is sending a delegation, including Climate Alliance’s president Andreas Wolter, to Lima to join the Amazon Summit. Climate Alliance is planning to bring relevant topics to the table, such as climate partnerships as well as renewable energies and strategies for Amazonia.
