It is estimated that, through the implementation of Integrated Renovation Programmes (IRPs) at the local level, the EU total energy consumption could be reduced by 26%. In addition, the deep renovation of existing buildings will contribute to the EU economic recovery by generating local employment, upskilling workers, and creating resilient communities.

The EU-funded EUROPA project aims at promoting and boosting the implementation of deep energy renovation in the residential building sector. To reach this, the project will build trust in the market, trigger new investments and set up standards and specifications to guarantee their performance. Together with the consortium partners, the project aims at triggering € 37 million of sustainable energy investments in the following regions: Piemonte (IT), Alto Alentejo (PT), Allgau (DE), Isère (FR) and Latvia.

A proper mix of financial and long term market incentives will attract market operators to use the published set of standards and specifications. This will ensure not only that the expected impacts from planned investments are reached in terms of primary energy and CO2 emissions reduction, but also that the market continues to scale up as the market actors will continue to see fair returns over the following years from their work.

Climate Alliance´s role is to deliver learning activities to about 20 replication partners across Europe. Those organizations will be selected via a public call and will be matched with the most appropriate regional project partner.
