Marc Serra Solé

Deputy Area Chairman for Climate Action and Energy Transition, Deputy Councillor for Citizens’ Participation of the Province of Barcelona, Spain | Board member since 2023

Marc Serra Solé was born and raised in Barcelona, ​​Spain. A sociologist by training, he holds a degree in law, a master’s in advocacy and has worked in various organisations defending social and environmental rights. In 2019, he was elected Councillor for Citizen Rights and Participation in the Barcelona City Council, a position he held until May 2023. During his mandate, he also served as Secretary General of the International Observatory on Participatory Democracy (IOPD) and worked to promote Barcelona’s candidacy as a European Capital of Democracy, an honour with which the city was recognised in 2023/2024. Serra Solé is currently Deputy Area Chairman for Climate Action and Energy Transition as well as Deputy Councillor for Citizens’ Participation in the Barcelona Provincial Council.
