European Dialogue on Non-State Climate Action
The shift towards a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy has been driven largely by bottom-up initiatives led by the public, business, civil society and local authorities, collectively referred to as non-state actors. In recent years, the number, scope and scale of non-state climate action has grown rapidly. However, non-state actors still encounter obstacles that make it difficult for them to initiate and implement their climate actions successfully.
This event will take stock of the collective efforts on the Paris Agreement and takes the form of a regional Talanoa Dialogue - the main process by which the voices of non-state actors will feed into climate negotiations. It will include both plenary sessions and participatory workshops focusing on turning the dialogue into an actionable agenda, bringing together experts from national and subnational governments, the private sector, financial institutions and leading international and civil society organisations.
The event is organised in part by Climate Alliance’s official partner, the European Committee of the Regions and will include strategic Climate Alliance participation: Policy Coordinator Andy Deacon will be facilitating a participatory session on improving governance and the day will also feature inputs from Working Group on Financing Chair Ronald van Meygaarden as well as Board President Tine Heyse
