Workshop I - especially for politicians: Climate Protection in political everyday life
Joint workshop of Climate Alliance and the sponsoring organisation for Swiss energy-efficient cities. The workshop is aimed specifically at politicians in cities and municipalities is designed to stimulate discussion on local politicians' experiences in local energy and climate protection policies. Topics included are practical political challenges, acceptance of, and overcoming resistance to these policies.

Workshop III Citizens Investments Move Ecopower - the European PRIME project Overview (79 KB)

The European project, PRIME, acquired resources to carry out projects of this kind. Excursion
1. "Zero Energy": New EAWAG building in Dübendorf:
Guided tour of the innovative Swiss Federal Institute office building. The prize-winning main building of the national research centre near Zurich sets the standard in Europe for sustainable and energy-efficient building. The "Zero Energy House" is run without conventional heating and cooling systems and uses only a minimal amount of energy. It also has an innovative sanitary system with NoMix toilets and rainwater flushing system.
2. Visit to the eco-hydroelectric power plant in Zurich-Höngg:
The electricity supply station of the City of Zurich (ewz) offers a tour around the world of energy, accompanied by sound, lighting, pictures and games. An energy show demonstrates eco-energy production. Also on display are ladder-climbing fish and a mysterious lift which uses muscle power. At the end of the year 2000, The ewz power station in Höngg was awarded the Swiss eco-energy mark "Naturemade Star" for its outstanding environmental achievements.
