Carbon Smart Communities - CaSCo

CO2 reduction by strengthening regional material flows in timber industry

Increasing material flows along processing chains in timber industry considerably contribute to climate change. There is a great but unexploited potential for the reduction of CO2-emissions. The project makes this potential visible for decision makers and actors and wants to raise awareness for the use of regional timber. CaSCo visualizes the impact of low carbon material flows in timber products on CO2 reduction and the climate. In the participating regions it develops and establishes measures and steering instruments to actively trigger climate friendly timber products. The project also analyses and supports the potential of sustainable public procurement in order to provide administrations and decision makers with specific information.

Project funding period: November 2016 – April 2020
CaSCo is supported via the INTERREG Alpine Space Programme of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Total co-financing amounts to €1,947,509.
