ETC/CCA

Consulting on climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation

The European Topic Centre on Climate Change Impacts, Vulnerability and Adaptation (ETC/CCA) is a centre of thematic expertise contracted by the European Environment Agency (EEA). The centre carries out specific tasks identified in the EEA strategy and specified in the EEA Annual Management Plans in the area of climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation across Europe. The consortium running the centre is comprised of various European institutes and organisations and is led by the Italian Euro-Mediterranean Center for Climate Change (CMCC). The ETC/CCA assists the EEA in supporting EU policy by improving data and indicators on climate change and its impacts across sectors and regions, enhancing the assessment of climate change vulnerabilities and natural hazard risks to society and ecosystems and building on current or planned adaptation strategies and actions.

Climate Alliance has been part of the consortium since January 2019 and co-leads the task on urban and social aspects of adaptation. In this role, Climate Alliance experts are leading the drafting of the 2020 EEA report on Adaptation to Climate Change in European Cities and Towns. We help organise the European Urban Resilience Forum, are involved in the task on climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction assessments and contribute to the Climate-ADAPT platform, for example, via the Urban Adaptation Support Tool and the Urban Adaption Map Viewer.

Project funding period: January 2019 – December 2021
