Climate Alliance was looking for Europe’s best climate action projects
The European competition for the best municipal projects promoting climate action was announced. For the seventh time, local authorities and municipal networks had the chance to enter running or completed climate action projects to win.
The projects and initiatives show the general public the strength of the local level in the fight against climate change and for an energy transition!
Winners will be awarded in four categories according to number of inhabitants.
The closing date for applications has expired. Winners will honoured at the Grafenegg Castle on 6 October 2016 on the invitation of the Federal State of Lower Austria and will take place in the framework of the International Climate Alliance Conference in Krems an der Donau, Austria.
Submissions at a glance
Who could apply?
Climate Alliance member municipalities and local authorities from across Europe as well as municipal networks.
What could be submitted?
Running or completed projects and initiatives on topics ranging from energy and mobility to sustainable food and green procurement up to climate justice and climate change adaptation.
Who selects the winners?
A jury comprised of representatives of Climate Alliance National Coordination Offices in Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland and Hungary as well as representatives of the European Secretariat.
According to which criteria will projects be evaluated?
Sustainability, replication capacity, media impact, innovation, public involvement.
How many projects will be awarded?
15 winners representing projects and initiatives of Climate Alliance members from across Europe will receive a Climate Star with an eye to the number of Climate Alliance municipalities in each country.
