New members in Bosnia-Herzegovina

27.06.2012 - It’s a pleasure to greet our two new members in Bosnia-Herzegovina: Banja Luka and Laktaši. Welcome to Climate Alliance!

The city of Banja Luka with about 250,000 inhabitants has developed into one of the strongest economic regions of the country. It already signed the Covenant of Mayors in January 2009 and submitted the sustainable energy action plan (SEAP).

The neighbouring town of Laktaši (29,900 inhabitants) has signed the Covenant in March 2011 and also has forwarded an action plan. The main tasks in the near future for Laktaši will be the strengthening of the regional economy (by climate protection) and adaptation to climate change.

Now, with Banja Luka and Laktaši Climate Alliance has members in 20 European countries and furthermore is represented in a country on the Balkan peninsula for the first time.
